Name: Lauren Tirollo
Hometown: Bloomfield, KY
Hobbies / Interest outside of CrossFit: Outlander book series/show (time travel rocks!), history buff (yes, I am that one from class that read the entire history book just for fun J), anything forensics related, cooking (I have a cookbook purchasing problem), Kentucky basketball (go Cats!), hanging with my family, cat lover, and so much more but there just isn’t enough space J
How long have you been at CrossFit Thoroughbreds: I joined CFTB in December 2018.
Favorite WOD or movement: I love, love, love workouts that have a short time cap that involve multiple movements that are small in reps. So 5 rounds of 3 power cleans, 3 box jumps, 3 pull-ups with a 6 minute cap. Bring it!
Tell us about your fitness journey: I was in an exercise rut and was so out of shape. My youngest at the time was 3 years old and I would get out of breath just chasing him around. I knew I had to change. I asked my husband to start looking around at gyms for me and nothing looked appealing. I had tried numerous health club chains in the past and I always quit soon after joining. Two co-workers of mine had recently joined this gym called CrossFit Fort Myers in the summer of 2012. They would not shut up about it! I continued to become more intrigued the more I heard them talk about it. I finally gave in and attended my first demo on a Saturday morning in October 2012, literally having no idea what I was getting myself into. It was the most pain I had experienced, yet I came back on Monday and I haven’t looked back. CrossFit has changed my life for the better in so many aspects! My health is better now than it was in my twenties, the friends I have gained are like family to me, and the CrossFit community itself is just incredible.
How has your fitness journey changed since joining CrossFit Thoroughbreds: CFTB welcomed me with open arms when my gym closed. Even though my fitness journey did not begin with CFTB, my fitness journey since joining this family has been so incredible and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me here! The coaches are all so amazing and I am so thankful for all of them. I really do think we have the best coaches around!
Favorite memory at CrossFit Thoroughbreds: There are already so many great memories I have made since joining! It would be so hard to name just one! But one memory that sticks out to me the most would have to be the day of the in-house competition. Watching Will compete and push through those WOD’s and everyone cheering for him made me realize in that moment that I knew I had made the right choice with CFTB. It was one of those moments that I will never forget.
